The Evangelical Stream - The Word Centered Life

Read and Listen:

Love has come in Jesus, the living Word who reveals the heart of the Father and draws us near to the Kingdom of God. In Him, the good news is not only spoken but embodied—life, grace, and truth gently walking among us, making the invisible God known in a way we can receive and trust.

Through Christ, the doors of the Kingdom are opened wide to every person, in every place, at every time. No one is beyond the reach of the Father's invitation to be known, loved, and brought home. Scripture quietly and faithfully bears witness to this story, drawing us again and again to Christ, helping us recognize His voice and the steady unfolding of God's redeeming work.

Jesus often spoke of a deep spiritual hunger—a longing for God's righteousness and Kingdom. In the Sermon on the Mount, He said:

"Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled."

The Word-centered life begins with this hunger. It is a life anchored in a story larger than itself, where Scripture is not only read but obeyed, wrestled with, and proclaimed. Through God's Word, truth clears away illusion, wisdom shapes our choices, and the good news of Jesus becomes both our foundation and our sending fire.

As God's love takes root in us, it naturally overflows to others. Evangelism is not something forced or burdensome, but the sharing of what we have come to know and receive. It is the quiet invitation of a transformed life—speaking of Christ in our words and through the way we live—so that others may discover the nearness of God's Kingdom and the beauty of being drawn into the Father's love.

One practical approach:

Set up lunch, coffee, a walk, or a phone call with someone you know and aim to be truly present with them. Make it a goal that you listen more than you speak. Ask curious questions. In a world where most of us are listening to have our voice heard, what would it look like to listen just to be curious and want to learn more? As you’re listening, take time to ask: What is God saying to me about this person right now as well? Take the opportunity to talk to God about your friend, and in future conversations, ask God what you can share with them. For this conversation, however, just focus on being fully present with both the other person and with God.
