Values

history & beliefs

Discovery launched in 1999 to help people from any background discover the stunning and revolutionary way of following Jesus in a welcoming environment. Discovery was planted by Rocky Mountain Christian Church, LifeBridge Christian Church, East 91st Christian Church, Church Planters of the Rockies, and The Orchard Group.

Because of this mandate, we strongly invite people to belong before they believe, and we’re passionate about reminding all of us that no matter what you’ve done or what’s been done to you, you’re welcome at Discovery. Consequently, the Discovery community is a collection of passionate followers of Christ, people looking into the claims of Christ, and even skeptical people who have found community at Discovery.

We are Christ centered and outward-focused. We’re passionate about our beliefs and respectful and courteous to everyone who joins our community. We are theologically conservative, with a strong thread of grace weaved throughout what we do and who we are. We communicate with an artistic and intellectual bent.

The Cross

Hanging in our auditorium is our cross which captures both the logo of our church, the compass, as well as the logo of our ‘C’ church, the cross of Jesus. The fact that it hangs in our window facing out to the world around as an invitation and light to all is not accident!

The Plow

When our building broke ground, not only did Discovery members come out to ‘pull a plow’ but members of city council and the local community also came to begin the process of creating a physical space. The plow still sits proudly by our front walkway as a reminder that we are each still invited to grab the rope and pull: it takes all of us to be the fullness of the Church.

The Compass

This central image of Discovery communicates several core principles of our DNA. We are all about Jesus and the journey, no matter what you’ve done or what’s been done to you. None of us have arrived, but are simply on a life-long pilgrimage together.

The Walls

As the church building was preparing to open up to for regular use, we hosted a day where people could come and ‘sign the walls’ with their prayers, hopes, and dreams for this church and the surrounding community! You can still see parts of this work around the building!
